PNG to feature at major travel show at UK

Papua New Guinea’s potential as an exotic and alluring tourist destination will be featured for the first time at the World Travel Market, which will take place between November 5 and 12 in London’s Excel Arena.

The event will see 4000 exhibitors and travel service providers from across the world and is known to be the place to be for spotting trends and forecasts in the tourism industry.

PNG’s presence will undoubtedly boost its Tourism Promotion Authority’s efforts to raise the country’s profile in the United Kingdom and Europe as it comes close on the heels of the establishment of its first office in the UK earlier this year.
Several UK based tour operators have already begun featuring PNG in their programmes and are looking forward keen to build on the high interest that the country has generated because of its exotic location, people, cultures and the diversity of experiences and destinations that it offers.
Actively promoted are destinations for nature tourists, especially ornithologists, since the country is home to a number of exotic species including the famed Bird of Paradise, which features on much of the country’s insignia. There are also options for trekkers, with routes including the 96km Kokoda trail through the Owen Stanley Range and the Black Cat trail in Morobe Province.
UK is also an excellent market for PNG’s World War-II hardware wrecks both on land and under the sea. Some sites in the country are well known dive spots.
